2021 Review

It was the first year after graduation, the first year of work, the year of indulgence, and the year of self-growth.

Work is really tiring. When I was in school, I used to think that I would use weekends to learn various things when I started working. But after starting work, I realized that even two days on the weekend are not enough to have fun... I have already written code for five days, and when I get home, I don't even want to turn on the computer...

Work#

I started my internship in March this year. The internship mainly involved working on IDE peripherals based on the VSCode framework, which I found quite interesting.

I learned about the surrounding technologies of Electron.

After officially joining the company, I started working on DSL/compilation theory/static analysis related content, which is quite challenging.

Recently, I gained a deep understanding of the TypeScript Compiler, which was quite interesting. I hope to write a few articles about it when I have free time.

I have learned a lot from many experts in the industry.

The work atmosphere in an internet company is actually quite good, but I still learned some workplace skills and grew as a professional.

I am currently working on an IDE framework that has already been open-sourced: https://github.com/opensumi/core

opensumi/core

It provides compatibility with the VSCode API, various rich configuration options, the ability to quickly integrate with Electron, and out-of-the-box WebIDE capabilities. It has already been used in several real applications within the company.

Graduation Project#

I learned Rust/Go, and for my graduation project, I initially chose Rust but found it difficult to work with, so I switched to Go.

I developed an Online Judge system, originally intended to be a multi-container judging system based on K8S, but in the end, I couldn't implement it.

Instead, I implemented a simplified version: it receives judging requests, starts containers for the corresponding programming languages using Docker, waits for the containers to return, and then judges the user's code execution results.

During this process, I learned a lot about process management and containerization in Linux.

Personal Growth#

I had some disposable income, so I bought a lot of books and courses...

One impressive variety show was "Goodbye, My Love." After watching it, I wanted to study love. Then I listened to some courses by Shen Yifei.

I attended a lecture on intimate relationships by Chen Haixian, and then I listened to his "30 Lectures on Intimate Relationships" and "Self-Development Psychology" on the "Dedao" platform. I highly recommend them.

I also recommend the "30 Lectures on Basic Psychology" on the "Dedao" platform.

Psychology is a science that not only tells us about human mental activities but also studies where these mental activities come from, what our genes contain, and the norms formed by modern society.

I feel that I really need this knowledge.

I also read about half of "The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind." After that, whenever I see certain group behaviors in society, I always have a strange feeling. While watching "The Devotion of Suspect X," I felt the power of studying group psychology...

"The Roundtable" is also worth listening to. It provides insights from humanities students and shares various content from experts.

In the first half of the year, I paid attention to Taiwan and listened to programs from some pro-Kuomintang media. In the second half of the year, I felt a bit tired of listening, so I switched to listening to podcasts, courses, or just music during my commute.

I really watched a lot of movies and shows this year.

And then I can't remember anything else. There is a psychological phenomenon: people always have a strong impression of the beginning and end of memories, but the memories in the middle are not very clear.

Life#

Life has become much more colorful. Almost every week, I go out with colleagues and classmates to experience new things and do a lot of shopping.

I bought my own electric scooter, my first iPad as a young person, my first noise-canceling headphones, and my first smartwatch.

I ate at many different restaurants and visited many places in Hangzhou with friends.

I really like going to West Lake. I go there almost every week, walking with friends and chatting. It's very beautiful.

I watched a stage play for the first time, "The Murder at Hachijo Inn" by Keigo Higashino, and got front-row tickets. It was quite good. Afterwards, I listened to a hardcore radio interview with the cast, which was also interesting.

I played murder mystery games for the first time, experienced an escape room, and tried various things with colleagues.

Living in the city feels great~

I have my own little space and bought various things, clothes, shoes, kitchen utensils, and household items.

I started working out and go to the gym almost every day. Occasionally, I take a break or go out on weekends. I can say that it's very effective~ I can bench press 30KG now (with the bar, it's about 100 pounds).

That's All#

I go to work on time every day and play for a while after work.

This is the life of a corporate slave~

Every day is tiring, but there are also little joys in life that make you happy.

I feel that life is still full of hope~
